Capstone Dungeons

Capstone Dungeons are special challenges in Diablo IV. These will become your first challenge after completing the main campaign, but, more importantly, they are also required to unlock World Tiers 3 and 4 (higher difficulties of the game), which will make enemies in the game much more formidable in exchange for increased XP rate and gold.

There are three Capstone Dungeons in total, and they all come with unique challenges.

Cathedral of Light (Unlocks World Tier 3)

• Unlocks after completing the main campaign
  • However, you will only be able to enter it if you are in World Tier 2 (Veteran)
  • If you are at Tier 1 (Adventurer), you can raise it either from the main menu screen or by visiting a World Tier Statue in any major city
• Unlike most of the game, enemies in this dungeon will not level-scale along with you
  • Instead, they will always be at level 50
• Cathedral of Light will have you fight the High Counsel (which consists of 4 mini-bosses) and the Curator
• Completing this dungeon will unlock World Tier 3 (Nightmare)

Fallen Temple (Unlocks World Tier 4)

• Unlocks after completing the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon
  • You must be in World Tier 3 (Nightmare) to enter
  • If you are at Tier 2 (Veteran), you can raise it either from the main menu screen or by visiting a World Tier Statue in any major city
• Unlike most of the game, enemies in this dungeon will not level-scale along with you
  • Instead, they will always be at level 70
• You will have to deal with 2 curses while inside this dungeon:
  • Curse of the Indolent: Every 5 seconds, Curse of the Indolent increases the duration of Crowd Control effects on you by 1%, stacking up to 50 times. Every time you kill an enemy, the stack is reduced by 1.
  • Curse of the Weak: Every 5 seconds, Curse of the Weak increases the damage you take from enemies by 1%, stacking up to 50 times. Every time you kill an enemy, the stack is reduced by 1.
• The final boss in this dungeon is Elias, Hatred’s Remnant
• Completing this dungeon will unlock World Tier 4 (Torment) — this is the highest World Tier in the game

Echo of Hatred

• Unlocks after completing the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon
  • You must be in World Tier 4 (Torment) to enter
• This dungeon consists of a single enemy — the Echo of Lilith (also known as Uber Lilith)
  • This is considered one of the hardest bosses in the game, if not the hardest
• Defeating her will earn you the title ‘Lilith’s Doom’ and the Bloody Liquid Steel Mount
